The top exported product from China to the USA in 2016 (11%) was commodity group 8471 "Automatic data processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, not elsewhere specified or included." - the value of exports of this group amounted to $ 42 billion.

Also, structure of Exports from China to the USA in 2016 includes the following principal commodities:

  • 7.21% ($ 27 billion) - 8525 - Transmission apparatus for radio-telephony, radio-telegraphy, radio-broadcasting or television, whether or not incorporating reception apparatus or sound recording or reproducing apparatus; television cameras; still image video cameras and other video camera recorders; digital cameras.
  • 3.01% ($ 11.6 billion) - 8517 - Electrical apparatus for line telephony or line telegraphy, including line telephone sets with cordless handsets and telecommunication apparatus for carrier-current line systems or for digital line systems; videophones.
  • 2.44% ($ 9.43 billion) - 8708 - Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of headings 87.01 to 87.05.
  • 2.2% ($ 8.52 billion) - 9403 - Other furniture and parts thereof.
  • 2.13% ($ 8.24 billion) - 8528 - Reception apparatus for television, whether or not incorporating radio-broadcast receivers or sound or video recording or reproducing apparatus; video monitors and video projectors.
  • 2.07% ($ 8.01 billion) - 9405 - Lamps and lighting fittings including searchlights and spotlights and parts thereof, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated signs, illuminated name-plates and the like, having a permanently fixed light source, and parts thereof not elsewhere specified or included.
  • 2.05% ($ 7.91 billion) - 9401 - Seats (other than those of heading 94.02), whether or not convertible into beds, and parts thereof.
  • 1.69% ($ 6.51 billion) - 8473 - Parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines of headings 84.69 to 84.72.
  • 1.52% ($ 5.88 billion) - 9503 - Other toys; reduced-size (scale) models and similar recreational models, working or not; puzzles of all kinds.
  • The data set presents the structure of imports or exports of goods with the details up to the fourth level of aggregation of the harmonized system for the description and coding of goods HS2012. In total, there are 1,245 commodity groups at the 4th level of the HS2012 classification. Using this set of data it is possible to obtain information about both the general structure of imports into the country (or exports from the country) and the structure of trade flows to / from a single trading partner.
