In 2017, USA exported goods worth $ 1.54 trillion. The largest share of exports (5.03%) from the USA in 2017 were goods of group 2710 "Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, other than crude; preparations not elsewhere specified or included, containing by weight 70 % or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the preparations; waste oils." - the value of exported goods of this group was equal to $ 77 billion.

In addition, Exports from the USA include goods of the following categories (data for 2017 are given):

  • 3.46% ($ 53 billion) - 8703 - Motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than those of heading 87.02), including station wagons and racing cars.
  • 2.92% ($ 45 billion) - 8708 - Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of headings 87.01 to 87.05.
  • 2.48% ($ 38 billion) - 8542 - Electronic integrated circuits and microassemblies.
  • 2.15% ($ 33 billion) - 8525 - Transmission apparatus for radio-telephony, radio-telegraphy, radio-broadcasting or television, whether or not incorporating reception apparatus or sound recording or reproducing apparatus; television cameras; still image video cameras and other video camera recorders; digital cameras.
  • 1.8% ($ 27 billion) - 8471 - Automatic data processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, not elsewhere specified or included.
  • 1.71% ($ 26 billion) - 9018 - Instruments and appliances used in medical, surgical, dental or veterinary sciences, including scintigraphic apparatus, other electro-medical apparatus and sight-testing instruments.
  • 1.46% ($ 22 billion) - 2709 - Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude.
  • 1.45% ($ 22 billion) - 2711 - Petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons.
  • 1.39% ($ 21 billion) - 1201 - Soya beans, whether or not broken.
  • The data set presents the structure of imports or exports of goods with the details up to the fourth level of aggregation of the harmonized system for the description and coding of goods HS2012. In total, there are 1,245 commodity groups at the 4th level of the HS2012 classification. Using this set of data it is possible to obtain information about both the general structure of imports into the country (or exports from the country) and the structure of trade flows to / from a single trading partner.
